Yellow Satin and Rosette Gown for Gene

SOLD
This confection is another outfit I've wanted to do for a while.  I bought this rosette fabric years ago and happened to have to some yellow silk charmeuse that matched.  The strapless gown has a full circle underskirt of silk satin charmeuse fully lined in cream silk/cotton.  The full gathered circle overskirt is a rosette mesh fully lined in yellow tulle.  The cumberbund and bow are lavender silk satin with a rhinestone buckle accent.  The cumberbund fastens with two hooks and thread loops.

This dress is currently available for $150.00 plus shipping.

OOAK Theatre De La Mode Plaid Suit for Gene

This is a project I've wanted to do for a while because I had this piece of plaid linen/cotton that I thought looked a lot like the original, and I drafted the pattern some time ago.  Matching plaids in this scale is a chore so I won't be repeating this one.  The inspiration is a plaid suit from the Theatre De La Mode exhibit which I've referenced before.  I couldn't find a good picture of the original so maybe it's one of the pieces that didn't survive.  The skirt is a light rayon.  After I got the jacket done, I decided the skirt was not in proportion, meaning 1/2" too long.  That meant either remaking it, or cutting it off and rehemming the lining to the skirt by hand, which is what I ended up doing.  I can't tell from the pic that I have (posted at the end) what the hat was made of but it kind of looks like it might be covered in flower petals.  Not having those on hand, I decided to make it from cotton pique, which gives it texture, and add some flowers on the back.  The jacket and skirt are both fully lined in silk/cotton.  The belt is faux leather with a black buckle.  I haven't made the shoulder bag pictured with the original yet but I may do that.  In the meantime, I posed the doll with a lambskin bag from my own stash.

This outfit--shirt, jacket, belt, and hat--is available for $145.00.

Commission Butterfly Coat/Dress for Gene

This is a commission to reproduce a vintage design for Gene.  Although the original was done in taffeta, the client chose this butterfly print cotton from Joann.

Vintage Balmain for Gene

Another commission for Gene, this one a reproduction of a 1950's Balmain coat and strapless dress.  This fabric was also chosen by the client from Joann, and the cumberbund is pink silk.  The inspiration pic has been in my files for a while so I was glad to have the opportunity to make this one up,  The pattern turned out so well that I might do this one again in a another fabric.

Vintage Repro in Zebra Print for Gene

This is another commission for Gene.  The client chose the style (pic at end of post) but wanted it floor length with a matching wrap.  The fabric is a customizable quilting cotton from Joann that I was able to scale down to doll size and I think it turned out pretty cute.  I debated for a while on whether to make the top band black or white.  I didn't think the black popped enough.  But maybe the white pops too much.  What do all think?
