Remember the owl that I was working on a few weeks ago when I carelessly melted part of his wing off with the torch? I got him out to mess around with the other day along with some thin brass wire and a tourmaline carved leaf and this is what resulted. I guess it's growing on me but I'm still not sure if I'm satisfied with it. What do you think? This can at least be easiliy removed and I could still attempt to solder a patch in there.
Not bad, but it feels like a conflict of styles. I can't get Martina McBride's "A Broken Wing" song outta my head. ;)
ReplyDeleteI like the twig and the "claws". I also like the leaf, but I'd add another leaf with perhaps a small gem and lose the brass branch? Just let the leaves float free, covering the mistake? A cleaner look. The Twig would balance the leaves perhaps?
ReplyDeleteForgot to add...I'd leave just a bit of stem connecting the two leaves.
ReplyDeleteThen give him to me ...because I love the owl!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThe twisted brass wire really works, and you cant go wrong with a tourmaline leaf. It might sell faster like this;)
ReplyDeleteWow, so many different opinions! Thanks everyone but now I'm really confused. :D My gut reaction was the same as Sheree's. On the other hand, Mary is right too. Often the pieces that I'm the most ambivalent about are the first to sell.
