I found a source for some really nice labradorite-my favorite stone-at the G&LW Show last month. I set this one in a Viking knit bezel accented with some coils of tiny wire. I had it for two days. I made it on Thursday and it sold on Saturday. :D
Great stone! Your setting compliments it perfectly. I love how you adorned the frame wire with beads, adding sth special to the plain design. :-) Jutta
Thanks, Jutta! Actually there a couple of practical reasons why I do that. It helps me keep my stitches even, and it creates a small space for my viking knit wire to connect to the wire holding the stone in the back.
Thank you so much for the insightful extra explanation, Nancy! I am not only a curious novice, but also very keen on designs which are based on practical thoughts - and I am grateful that you so generously share your thoughts on the process. Jutta
Boy, I got this so long ago I don't remember the name of the vendor. But I haven't seen him at the G&LW Show in a couple of years so I'm glad I have a stash. Szarka sometimes has some nice labradorite at Magpie Gemstones.
This is just amazingly beautiful. I see why it sold so quickly. The wire work is perfect.
