Week 20-Lots of Viking Knit

I Viking knitted this week until I ran out of wire. The first one has a beaded bead focal-the only beading I know how to do. The second one uses Greek Mykonos ceramic beads, and the third one has a giant heavy Bali bead that I picked up somewhere in my travels and could never figure out what to do with.

  1. They're all stunning Nancy!! But I really love the effect of the LOS in the second one ~ it really makes the weaving "pop"

  3. Gorgeous! The viking knit looks especially good when it's oxidized.

  4. I love these bracelets! I'm just starting to do viking knit, can I ask what gauge wire you used? And is it just regular viking knit, or the doubled version? Thanks.

  5. Thanks, everyone! Beth, those are all double Viking knit done with 24 gauge fine silver on a 3/8" dowel.

  6. Nancy,

I hope you don't mind my picking your brain some more. You are one of my favorite jewelry-making role models (more tutorials, please!) How many loops did you start out with for the viking knit, and did you use a heavy wire through the viking knit legs of the bracelet to keep its shape? Thanks!

  7. Thanks, Beth! For a double weave, I use five loops. And you're right, everything is strung on 16 (or 14) gauge wire for the bangles.

  9. They are gorgeous! That beaded bead is absolutely lovely. I'm working on a viking knit too...for myself. Shay gave me a GORGEOUS Amethyst pendant...and I think I want to wear it on a viking knit chain.

  10. Thanks, Swati! If it's the one I'm thinking of, it will go great on a Viking knit chain. It goes fast once you get your rhythm going.
